The most common type of auto art is, of course, drawings or paintings of cars. People who are interested in the design of cars will often come up with really amazing drawings of concept cars. They may also do great renderings of existing vehicles.

I do like that art but I tend to like art that’s a bit edgier. For example, I once saw a guy who took a bunch of Toyota Camry parts and Toyota Tundra parts and used them to make a really wild sculpture. I’ve also seen small car parts used to create robots. I think that’s really cool!

Of course, there are also people who turn their own cars into art. Sometimes I’ll be driving down the street and I’ll see a car that has little dolls all over it or I’ll see a car that’s been painted in a truly unique way. That’s art right there on the road for us to enjoy. I may not always find it pretty but I think it’s cool that people are putting it out there.

Now on my third brand new Toyota in the past 25 years, you can be assured I’ve learned a lesson or 2 along the way. In my mid 20’s I thought I knew everything. And while I still pretty much think that, some of my friends are quick to point out the mistakes of my youth that might slightly disagree with that stated opinion.

Wanting to be a hipster in my youth, I purchased and installed a number of Toyota accessories for my first car. Some of them were genuine, some of them were simply after market knockoffs of original equipment.

It wasn’t until there was a recall for something relatively minor that I learned my lesson. After dropping off my car for the warranty repair work, I was shocked with a call from the dealer.

He asked about a recent installation I had made. Not thinking it a big deal I told him what I’d done. It was only then he informed me to bring my check book to pay for the work they had done that day as I had voided my warranty by installing unauthorized parts.

Never again!

Used cars on the other hand seem more to my liking, as far as the price range goes.  However, used cars in Fort Worth seem to be flying off the lots!  I’ve been to a few different used car dealers here and their inventory seems to be dwindled.  I’m not too sure if that comes from them selling so fast or if people aren’t trading their cars in as often.  It might be a combo of both. 

In any event, it doesn’t look like my search for a new car is nearly over.  I still haven’t looked at any used cars in Weatherford so hopefully their selection is a bit better.  Well, good luck to me and to the lucky dealer that nails the sale!

That is the one thing that I can tell that will help you more than anything else. Visiting a place like Toyotapart.com prior to going down to the local store is the best way to prepare yourself. The nice thing about these websites today is that you can even buy the actual parts on the web if you want to. You can have them sent right to your door for a fraction of what they might have charged you down at the local auto shop.

If you need to replace a part, be smart about it. There is no need for you to spend extra money and have extra aggravation for something so very easy.

I am used to delivering mail in the suburbs of a large city where there are banks of mail boxes scattered throughout the various subdivisions. You don’t actually go from house to house depositing mail through mail slots in that kind of environment. In fact the banks of mailboxes even have large package capability using larger key capturing mailboxes. So I am in a different world now as I go from house to house in a largely Amish rural area.

This is interesting. The other day I was delivering in one of these Amish areas and one of the big garages on one of these houses was opened. I was very surprised to see a big pickup with all kinds of truck accessories on it. This guy even had one of those flex a lite things on it! I didn’t think those people drove trucks. I thought it was all horses and buggies with them. I guess that’s not the case anymore.

So after some contemplating and shopping I was able to get what I wanted and was happy with the decision that I had made. It helps me to more easily maintain my truck and allows me to feel a little better when I do go off road to not upset the wife about the big mess in the driveway. So make a choice and get what you need to make your truck look better and stay cleaner longer.

I have come to find out, though, that this is not such a bad thing. In fact, it can be a good thing. There are so many reasons why you should consider buying online but for me, the only good thing is that you can find great prices and hard to find parts readily available. This is an excellent resource to keep in mind, especially for all of those out there who are spending a lot of time doing restoration work on their vehicles. So I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised when I went to pick up my new truck and the salesman introduced me to their version of the chrome consultant: The pickup truck accessories consultant. He showed me all kinds of neat things, and just like at the Harley shop, they would be happy to add it all to my financing. They didn’t get me too bad though. I got out after only adding on one of the cheap truck tool boxes and a bug deflector.

Luckily I’ve discovered that there are some parts and accessories that really don’t cost all that much money and yet can add a lot to the truck. Here are some of the cheaper truck accessories that I would recommend to shoppers on a budget:

- Hood ornaments. There are actually some expensive ones out there but if you look around you can find them for cheap and they’ll really add to the vehicle.

- Mud flaps. Get that sexy girl symbol to put on the truck and you’ve added a whole new level of style to the vehicle at very little cost.

- Air fresheners. There are some really cool designs for air fresheners these days. Don’t believe me? Look into it and you’ll see that the inside of your truck can look nicer with very little cost or effort just by adding one that’s got a bit of flair.

- Bed mats. These can get pricey if you let them but they don’t have to. They add a bit of style to the truck and protect it from damage at the same time.

See, you don’t have to spend a lot of money to make your truck look a little bit cooler than it does right now.
