New Job, New Knowledge Of The Amish

I have been a mail carrier with The United States Postal Service for many years. So when my wife got transferred with her work to east central Illinois, I asked for a transfer as well. It has been a pretty major transition too.
I am used to delivering mail in the suburbs of a large city where there are banks of mail boxes scattered throughout the various subdivisions. You don’t actually go from house to house depositing mail through mail slots in that kind of environment. In fact the banks of mailboxes even have large package capability using larger key capturing mailboxes. So I am in a different world now as I go from house to house in a largely Amish rural area.
This is interesting. The other day I was delivering in one of these Amish areas and one of the big garages on one of these houses was opened. I was very surprised to see a big pickup with all kinds of truck accessories on it. This guy even had one of those flex a lite things on it! I didn’t think those people drove trucks. I thought it was all horses and buggies with them. I guess that’s not the case anymore.
